Sketches
Use this page to give you some inspiration. Pick a basic design from the left, then look at the
different alterations that can be done from that basic design.
If you still aren't sure where to begin, start with the basics.
Making one decision, such as color or length can make everything else fall into place.
Check the Findings for some guides to help you get started.

- A single color and type of bead (gemstone, crystal) or a mix of beads separated by
elongated silver or gold beads
- as described above, but with the stones in graduated sizes,
growing larger towards the front, central bead
- as described above, but with the center stone being a size or
two larger than all the other beads (as drawn)
- as described above, with more attention drawn to the center bead
using other beads to accent it
- Three or four strands of wire, each strung with one or two different
kinds of beads, clustered together and spaced apart by small silver beads
(example)
Any of the above with or without the extra bead hanging below or hanging as the central bead
Any of the above with exposed thread to separate the beads instead of elongated silver beads
Any of the above with wire joining the beads together (similar to a rosary)
Any of the above with knots between the beads (typically found with pearls)

|

|
- Use one or more different kinds and colors of beads to make a pattern out of
the main necklace
- use a smaller version of your accent bead in the (repeated) pattern
- simplify the design by using chain as the main part of the necklace
- Have three pendants or accent beads dropping below the main necklace
- Use a uniquely shaped bead to accent the necklace and add dimension
|
|

|
- Use one color and kind of bead on each different strand
- Use one color and one kind/style on all the strands
- Use one color on all the strands, each strand a different kind/style of bead
- Mix metal and gemstone together on the different strands
- Braid three or four strands of beads
